Leading homebuilders are celebrating coming together to bring a new community on the outskirts of Edinburgh to the capital by wrapping one of the city’s iconic trams during the month of August.
West Craigs Village is a new community on the western side of Edinburgh that comprises 1,700 new homes from Miller Homes, Cala Homes, Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes, Cruden Homes, and Taylor Wimpey. Alongside new build homes, the area is set to welcome a new primary school, nursery, proposed health centre, proposed café, two 5-acre public parks, woodlands, and excellent transport links.
In celebrations of the new community, the West Craigs Village tram will be joining the Edinburgh trams route from Edinburgh Airport through the heart of the city centre via Edinburgh Gateway, to Leith, Ocean Terminal and Newhaven, with thousands set to board the tram route daily during August for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Speaking about the tram, Edinburgh Trams’ Marketing Manager, Jamie Swift said: “We’re exciting to be working with the West Craigs Village homebuilders to raise awareness of the new community through our famous tram network. August is an exciting month for Edinburgh, with more than a million locals and visitors alike making use of the trams to travel around the city, so we’re delighted to have the West Craigs Village tram on the route.”
West Craigs Village residents will soon be able to board the city’s trams via a bridge connecting the community to Edinburgh Gateway Rail & Tram Station.
